El nombre Los 2 Toros Yucatecos surge a través de las tradicionales esquinas del centro histórico que llevan el nombre de sucesos importantes ocurridos en el pasado sobre las calles del centro de mérida.
Esta es la situación de la calle 59 por 62 Col. Centro donde ocurrio la leyenda "los dos toros" se dice que este lugar solía ponerse amarrado a un toro de gran tamaño que seria sacrificado al día siguiente para ser preparado en un guiso yucateco conocido como chocolomo.
El éxito de este platillo aumentó a tal grado que se llegaron a tener amarrados dos bravísimos toros de gran tamaño, uno a cada lado de la esquina, los cuales al estar frente a frente bramaban y luchaban fuertemente para poder soltarse. Fue tanta la insistencia que uno de ellos lo logro y ataco feróz a su rival en turno, quién con la inersia también logro soltarse. Fue asi como se suscitó una memorable batalla y en honor a ella, la calle y el restaurante llevan su nombre, la placa se encuentra en la entrada de este sitio el cual hace homenaje a esta historia.
