    Santa Rosa Xtampak

    Ciudad maya de los muros viejos.

    La ciudad más importante de la región de los Chenes (Cultura Maya), denominada la ciudad de los muros viejos que es el significado de Xtampak, es considerada la capital prehispánica regional del mundo maya, y reconocida como el sitio arqueológico de mayor dimensión del estado de Campeche.

    En épocas del clásico tardío entre los años 600 y 800, Santa Rosa Xtampak se manifiesta como una entidad importante y reconocida políticamente, esto se refleja en la extensión de su territorio y en lo monumental de sus edificaciones.

    El corazón de la antigua ciudad lo conforman una serie de patios y plazas intercomunicadas y algunos grupos relativamente aislados. Una amplia calzada, con un altar cerca de su extremo oriental, une la Plaza del Palacio con un basamento piramidal del Grupo Noreste. Santa Rosa Xtampak es uno de los pocos sitios de su región que cuenta con estelas esculpidas y lisas.

    Como llegar

    Ubicado a 137 km de la ciudad de Campeche, en el municipio de Hopelchén. Cerca del km 79 de la carretera federal 261 se encuentra la desviación a un camino pavimentado de 32 km que te llevará directamente al sitio.

    Lunes a domingo de 8:00 a.m. a 17:00 p..m. horas.

    Estacionamiento, unidad de servicios, venta de publicaciones, sanitarios, teléfono satelital, señalización externa, señalética explicativa y restrictiva.
